It's a Wonderful Movie Night! (#10)

For Christmas, we jumped off our timeline once again and watched It's A Wonderful Life. Since this film really focuses around home and family, we decided the theme would be cozy home style cooking. We had rotisserie chicken with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. As a drink, we made mulled wine, the favorite holiday drink of Clarence the angel, and we kept it heavy on the cinnamon and light on the cloves, just the way that he likes it. It was a big hit. Dessert was home-style banana pudding. The food only moderately fit the film, but the mulled wine really pulled it all together and kept the evening feeling like Christmas.

For my mulled wine, I used the following recipe which was taken from https://wineintro.com/mulled/wonderful.html

Clarence's Mulled Wine

2 bottles red wine
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
4 sticks cinnamon
5 whole cloves
1 orange
1 lemon

Zest the fruit, avoiding the white pith. Put this, the sugar, cinnamon and cloves into the water. Bring this to a slow boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Now add the wine. Add in the actual orange and lemon fruit part, sliced up. Warm this on low heat for 40 minutes (do NOT boil). Strain out the wine and serve!
